About Us
We started The Secret Garden Apiary to try and do our bit for our local environment and to help the local honeybee population around us. It has always been a dream of ours to keep bees and after years of research, courses and practice at our local beekeepers association we finally decided that the time was right to take the plunge and we haven't looked back since.
Located on our (approx) 200 acre family farm in Devon we are lucky to already have an abundance of wildflowers in our woodlands, fields and hedgerows but we wanted to do more, so we have reinstated areas of wildflower meadow around the farm to give our girls and their wild friends a boost.
We believe that education around bees and beekeeping is so important to their survival which is why we host beekeeping experiences at our apiary in the summer months and bee talks in businesses and schools all year round. Corporate hive sponsorship is also available.
Every sale that we make helps us to grow the apiary and plant more wildflowers to help the bees so we really appreciate your support!
Matt & Ashley x

Matt
The practical one...
Matt can be found taking care of the bees on a daily basis inspecting hives, building equipment and making sure the bees are happy and have everything they need. He is also the most experienced beekeeper so is a fountain of knowledge during our beekeeping experience sessions.
Ashley
The creative one...
Ashley has a real love for bees and is obsessed with anything yellow or with a bee print, be it clothing or things for the home! From branding to product design she’s the one who deals with the business side of things while looking after our littelest apprentice Louis. She is also often Matt’s trusty assistant, passing tools and equipment like a theatre nurse to ensure a speedy and stress free inspection for the bees.
